Quick update: After several attempts (pictured above), I have now finally solved the back panel issue on my Cyberman helmet. and the best thing about my solution is that you are able to simply slide the whole thing on over your head without the need for a detachable panel like the actual props used to have. It is a tight squeeze mind you (if your head is as big as mine) but, if it fits me thenGlenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-63688644248338330962014-03-05T22:09:00.000+00:002014-03-05T22:15:57.615+00:00Projects: Cyberman Part-4
A few people have been messaging me asking how my Cyberman mask project is coming along so, I thought I'd just post a quick sneak peek of where I'm at.
Coming back to this project with a fresh set of eyes as it t'were (after quite a long break) I did manage to spot a few minor errors with my net patterns that had to be corrected following on from Part-2 of this project. Now that's Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-22576063907908833362014-01-11T11:45:00.001+00:002014-01-11T11:45:23.839+00:00Projects: Cyberman Part-3

This year I have been totally hooked on Wil Wheaton's Tabletop show. At the end of each episode the winner is presented with an award however, they can only afford one trophy so have to ask for that trophy back because they need it for the next episode.
This got me thinking…
Been trying to figure out what a proper Tabletop Trophy might look like, so doodled a few ideas and started to mock Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-66410744204820112642013-11-08T17:06:00.000+00:002013-11-08T17:06:52.756+00:00Klytus Costumes
Now that the Halloween parties are over I am starting to receive some fantastic photos of your cool Klytus costumes.
I wanted to give an honourable mention to 'Mikey', from Japan. He was keen to dress up as Klytus for his Halloween party and had bought both the Klytus mask and the golden arm from me. I was really curious to see what his finished costume would look like Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-58134944472544310922013-10-28T10:59:00.000+00:002013-10-28T10:59:00.848+00:00comicbookgirl19's Diamond Previews Costume Contest

Just uploaded my finial edit to youtube, showing how the Golden Arm section to the Klytus costume was constructed. As you'll see I was making that well into the evening because at one point in the video I lost my daylight and had to come back to finish the build the next day. I'm really pleased with how this project turned out, as were those of you who had commissioned me to makeGlenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-83890145217253688402013-10-25T10:22:00.000+01:002013-10-25T10:23:56.117+01:00Projects: Jake Bullet - Stage 1
Been having a much needed sort out of all my Red Dwarf project files (more about that later) suffice to say that I have a lot to catch up on and finally complete... One Such project was the converting of my Kryten Base model into his many other alter egos (as pictured here). Jake Bullet, a detective from the Cybenautic Devision of the Police Department.

Well, shortly after seeing the initial Kala's helmet maquette that I'd been experimenting with, two 'willing volunteers' ended up commissioning me to make a General Kala costume for their Halloween events. It was a mad rush, not only to build two of these costumes at the same time, but also to get them finished in time - eek!
I had though that it would be a simple matter of Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-43142363940661759362013-10-11T15:22:00.000+01:002013-10-12T16:16:22.945+01:00Thermoplastics!!
For those following my blog you may have already read the interview I had with Mark who was talking about his experiences at the London Film and Comic Con, dressed as Klytus. If you remember, he had mentioned a product that he had used to make his Klytus arm braces out of.
I looked into this Worbla material because I was really curious. The experience totally gave me a flashGlenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-81604326844762297452013-10-09T07:39:00.000+01:002013-10-09T07:39:56.225+01:00Klytus Costumes!!
I have been anxiously looking forward to seeing the completed costumes of everyone who had bought a Klytus mask from me and was just contacted by one such person. He shared some great photos of his adventure (in costume) at the winter London Film and Comic Con. So, I thought this would be a great opportunity quiz him further about his experience at this event.
GLEN: Hi Mark, Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-48535054128531994752013-10-03T14:04:00.000+01:002013-10-03T14:07:14.462+01:00Projects: Klytus Mask 2.0
Doesn't seem that long ago since I first decided to attempt to sculpt a version of the Klytus mask in craft card. Who'd of though it'll be so popular. I must have made at least 14 now for people all over the world. One of you, (you know who you are), liked is so much that he even bought a second one...
Thank you for your support and encouragement you have collectively inspired me to help you Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-52788491071798456152013-09-30T11:03:00.000+01:002013-09-30T11:03:44.016+01:00Project: Kryten Head prop 1:1 scale Part 3
There must be another Red Dwarf convention on the horizon because once again my inbox has a handful of requests all demanding that I simply give them the plans to my Red Dwarf models because... (insert reason here).
I kinda stopped replying to these requests because for one, it's a little disheartening to find out that they're only really interested in all your hard work, "if it's free",Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-62308699601196225942013-09-28T10:43:00.000+01:002013-09-28T10:43:00.277+01:00Projects: Big Red
OMG! Can't believe I was trying to make this back in the day... :-)
Just found this SketchUp project file too. I loved the original Red Dwarf ship design. The variations that were made after they had destroyed this version just never looked as good to me, especially that long CG version - yuck! The only issue with this project I seem to recall now, was that I couldn't find any Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-16699213491188393782013-09-27T10:29:00.000+01:002013-09-27T11:08:50.120+01:00Project: Starbug
During my computer file sort out I also found this rather interesting project. I totally forgot all about this one. It must have been around the time I was trying to figure out an interesting way to make a Starbug model in card. This design was based on a concept sketch, (I think it was a concept they had presented for the despair squid episode). The sketch is featured within one of the Red Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-75987772578035982432013-09-26T10:16:00.000+01:002013-09-26T10:16:14.691+01:00Projects: Bob, the Skutter 3d model
Been sorting out my computer files and found some really cool projects that I had thought I'd lost for ever after my computers were stolen at the start of this year. So pleased that I have found, and had backed up this project to another device. Bob the Skutter, I remember it taking ages to work out how best to model all those curves in SketchUp. Well here's a sneak peek as to why things have been a bit quite from me of late, and to let you all know that I am about a week away from perfecting my first Klytus Arm in that same matching metallic gold chrome card that I had made his mask out of.
What do you guys think?

"What's this"? I hear you say..
Well, most of my readers won't know this, but at the start of this year (2013) my home was burgled. Luckily, the only things taken were two of my Apple Mac computers. Unfortunately, I had to come to terms with the loss of a few cool projects that had not been backed up at the time.
I have managed to find a few older files since then, Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-31769451082441884532013-08-03T18:25:00.002+01:002013-08-03T18:25:43.326+01:00Project: General Kala - stage 2
Been reworking the 3D model I had made of General Kala's headdress. What I like to achieve when making a 3D model on computer it to create the correct shape with the least amount of polygons possible. This inevitably leads to fewer glue tabs and reduces the amount of components that will need to be cut out when making it out of paper/card, and all without compromising the original shape Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-2151019500176523522013-07-22T11:40:00.001+01:002013-07-22T20:34:33.776+01:00Project Klytus Mask 2.0
Firstly I'd like to say a big THANK YOU!! to all of you who have purchased a Klytus Mask from me. Your support and kind words have truly been inspirational. So much so, that I thought it only fitting that I develop the Golden arm to help everyone perfect their Klytus costumes even further.
This was very tricky to sculpt and took a lot longer that I had originally hoped because there Glenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003818408792107927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8267377288809454108.post-90003980498051514772013-07-13T17:16:00.000+01:002013-07-14T23:34:12.894+01:00Project: General KalaMy Klytus Masks have been quite sought after. I have been very busy surfing the internet looking for the best computer game themed papercraft it has to offer. I have made a few to show, along with my own paper models and masks, at the Game Expo East Kent event in Margate from the 21st-24th of February 2013.
