My admiration of Ray Harryhausen's brand of stop-motion model animation gave me an idea... His skeleton warriors scene from the 1963 film, "Jason and the Argonauts" has always been a great source of inspiration for me so I decided to make a paper skeleton of my own.
Initially I wanted to recreate this scene with paper models. Models which others could easily reproduce and use in their own home made films. However, as my prototype paper model of a human skeleton developed and grew in scale I decided that in order to achieve my end goal I would need to reinvent this scene utilizing some puppeteering and optical illusion techniques as opposed to the laborious stop-motion model animation techniques which Ray Harryhausen masterfully used.
I felt that the puppeteering techniques I have in mind could easily be reproducible, fun and offer a much more immediate end result.
My Paper Skeleton model (pictured ubove) currently stands approximately 3ft 5" tall (104cm) with 12 points of articulation.
